Choosing Your Five Faves
I had quite a problem choosing my Five Faves after being activated. I couldn’t decide who should make the cut and who should just be, another caller. I decided, with the help of Brian, on a couple methods to choose.
Method One
I decided the best method to select my five would be, just like the t-mobile ads, figure out who I would call if I won $1,000,000. Mom, Home, Brian, Work, and…. Exactly. I have one more person to choose.
Method Two
Although a little un-original, he told me to go through my call log and see who I called the most. Select the top five and set them as MyFaves. I did that, but I only found two people I called the most. Home and Brian. That left three faves.
Method Three
I used a combination of the two. I combined method 1 and 2 and came up with my 5!
I had a feeling of relief after I finalized my selections and then I realized that some people have been left out, and what if they call a lot, and I mean a lot, like 300 minutes a lot? Well, the solution for this, luckily, is that I can change myFaves once a month.

OK, I loved the song at the end of Grey’s Anatomy on Thursday and couldn’t find it anywhere. I did some google searches and came up with Swans by Unkle Bob, however, when I typed Unkle Bob into iTunes, it only came up with the song Brighter by Unkle Bob. Solution, type “Swans” in the search box instead of “Unkle Bob” and it is the first one in the list.
Anyway, here is the iTunes store link. I downloaded it and cannot stop listening to it!

Awesome Desktops/Icons for Macs

Last week I purchased a new MacBook Pro and wanted some new desktops so I went searching. As I googled “Mac Wallpaper” I came across the InterfaceLIFT website.
Interfacelift.com has some awesome desktop wallpapers to choose from as well as some pretty cool icons to customize destops. What’s really cool is the ability to select all desktops by certain resolutions. So if you have a 1900 x 400 resolution desktop, you can select only those that match.

Learn to XCode
There are several things I want to accomplish in life and one of them is to learn a programming language for Mac’s. In theory, it shouldn’t be that difficult, coming from a Visual Basic 6 and .net background, I can apply what I know and learn the rest.
How I’m starting out
- Downloaded/installed XCode
- Bought some books
- Now I just need the spare time
I actually bought three books on XCode and programming for the Mac, some show really good examples, some just provide code, and others are meant to be used as a reference manual. I haven’t been able to sit down and make it through a book; it is tougher than I thought to teach yourself another language. I do have SOME motivation.
Today, while going through my blogs, I found an interesting post on OSXDaily.com about learning Cocoa. The tutorials are very well written and give anyone a quick intro to Cocoa.
Books:
Cocoa(R) Programming for Mac(R) OS X (2nd Edition)
Step into Xcode: Mac OS X Development (Paperback)
Beginning Mac OSX Programming (Paperback)
Websites Used
CocoaLab.com <– My favorite website. Has an AMAZING FREE ebook and wiki

Two weeks ago I was at Walmart shopping for some snacks for the office. I decided to get some, what I called, Jello snacks. I didn’t think anything about the brand or what the product actually was until I cracked one open this afternoon at work. I was surprised, it was actually kind of gross. First there was this layer of clear colored “slime” that I scrapped off. The consistency reminds me of something that would come out of a nose. Second, the texture was odd, and it didn’t need to be chilled, so I ate it warm. This definitely was not one of Grandma’s JELLO jigglers.
The package pretty much explains it: Gel Snack. Apparently these things last for years. I bought this snack pack in January 2007 and it lasts until January 2008, which means I could leave this gel pack for someone, and they could eat it a year from now. That has to be healthy!

I had some spare time this morning and was looking around some web badge sites for a WordPress web badge to add to my sidebar. To my dismay, I did not find one that I wanted to use. So, what did I do? I created one.
Enjoy!

Apparently I’m a little behind the times when it comes to this post, but Times Magazine is criticizing Google.com’s doodle image from Valentines Day. Google uploads doodle images in place of their regular google image just to have fun, liven things up a bit.
Apparently Times Magazine has a problem reading between the lines when it comes to the simple stuff. Their beef with Google was that they could not properly see an “L” in Google, and were calling it “googe”. Are you kidding me? Is this your first trip to google.com on the holidays?
Twelve of the twenty doodles from January 1, 2006 – February 15, 2006 do not have clear, pronounced, letters in the image. Why exclaim “What Was Google Thinking?” when you’re the only one that doesn’t get it?

Twitter. I Did It
I’ve been hearing a lot of buzz about twitter lately and decided that I did not want to put myself up on “show” for the rest of the world. I figured it would be one more thing for me to update or forget about. However, today while at work, I was reading Leo Laporte’s blog and saw his twitter status. Since, Leo is awesome (We go all the way back to the 90’s with call for help), I decided it was time for me to get twittered.

I posted my first update this morning while looking through my blogs and keeping track of my own blog. Also, I appeared on the front page of twitter.com for about a minute.
I hope this will not become my next obsession. It all started with Facebook, then MySpace, now WordPress. Just about every twenty minutes I felt the need to check these websites and make sure I “didn’t miss anything” or someone’s comment did not go unanswered for more than 5 minutes. It was a bit ridiculous! Twitter, I will not become obsessed!
My username is: wmcraver
UPDATE: I’m officially obsessed! I can’t help it, it keeps me busy and makes my day go by faster. I put a badge on my MySpace page if you really want to stalk me!

One of my friends had their celebrity look-a-likes done on MyHeritage.com a couple days ago. It looked like fun so I decided to try it.
To take part in the CLA (Celebrity look-a-like, it’s just annoying to type), you need to register on myheritage.com.

I was reading through my sites this morning and came across OSXdaily.com’s post about img2icns.
Img2icns is a free and open source piece of software that lets you drag and drop any image file into the program and it chruns out your icon. You have your choice of format when creating icons; it can be .icns (for program developers) or a finder icon for quick use.
Hop over to their website and check them out!
